Veteran striker Benedict started his career with French club RC Lens and had a journeyed career playing club football in Belgium, Austria, China, Switzerland, Germany and Greece. He also won thirty international caps for Nigeria, scoring eight goals. He made an appearance at the 2002 World Cup finals against England.He joined Basingstoke in November 2009 aged 35 and initially played for the reserves to regain fitness. He made his debut in March 2010 against Staines and made two further appearances. He was released in May 2010.
