Player Profile

Tarps joined Basingstoke in August 2006 after being released as a junior from Crystal Palace. After an impressive first season in the the title winning reserve team squad, he was promoted to the first team squad. Although primarily a striker, David found himself covering injuries and suspensions in wide midfield in the 2007/08 season and made most of his appearances from here. He scored three goals. 2008/09 saw David down the striking pecking order but he still managed 45 appearances. Incredibly, 36 were as a sub, possibly a Basingstoke record for substitute appearences made in one season. He was released from the club in May 2009.
