Matt joined Basingstoke in March 2006 from Molesey after Vines took over at the club, who he played under for Crawley Town.He made a handful of appearances at the end of the season and started the 2006/07 season at right back. However, an own goal against Thurrock and a disasterous performance at Newport County spelled the end for Matt and he was released in September 2006
