Michael started his career as a youngster with Leicester City before moving to Reading, where he went on to make over 400 appearances. He also had playing spells with Mikkelin Palloilijat (Finland), Chelsea, Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall and Slough Town, where he ended his playing career in 2003. He also earned five international caps for Barbados. After his playing career, he worked as a youth coach for Reading and also had a spell as First Team Coach at Hungerford Town.Michael joined Basingstoke in November 2012, working as Assistant Manager under Jason Bristow. He continued his role until November 2015 when he was named as First Team Manager upon Bristows resignation with Basingstoke bottom of the National League South.Michael was not able to turn the teams fortunes around and after just twenty games at the helm, was released by Basingstoke in March 2016.
