Terry spent his playing career in the non-league, featuring for Hayes, Sutton United, Slough Town and Wokingham Town.His managerial career begun with his former club Hayes in 1993, where he spent nine years at the helm, earning them promotion to the Conference in the process. In 2002, he joined Aldershot Town where he spent five years, again earning promotion to the Conference and guiding them to the Conference Play-Offs on two occasions.In 2007, he took over at AFC Wimbledon after they failed to achieve promotion from the Isthmian League Premier Division at the second time of asking. He led them to three promotions in four years and into the Football League. After avoiding relegation in their first season in League Two, Terry was sacked in September 2012 following a poor start to the season.At the end of 2013, Terry was named manager of Margate. He achieved promotion in his first full season at the club, guiding them to the National League South. However, he left the club at the end of 2015.With Basingstoke bottom of the National League South in March 2016, Terry was named as First Team Manager just days after the sacking of Michael Gilkes. With eight league games remaining and eleven points adrift at the foot of the table, Terry was unable to save the club from its first relegation in twenty-two years, despite improving results.Despite relegation to the Southern League Premier, Terry signed a new two year contract as the club went full-time for the first time in its history.
